About Us

Chris Barletto
Owner

Chris originally didn’t plan on owning a bike shop. Although he’s been riding since he was a kid, he had his own well drilling business.

But then he got a voicemail from Shaun Hamilton, calling with the news that the shop he worked in was closing. Shaun told Chris that could bring his bikes over to the house and he would work on them. That’s when Chris knew what he had to do. Years before, a businessman had helped Chris’ dad and he saw the shop’s closing as an opportunity to pay it forward.

Although he planned on helping Shaun open his own shop, they soon realized that Chris was destined to be the owner. Since opening Action Bikes & Outdoor in 2008, Chris runs the business, plus handles some sales, light maintenance and new product development.

When not in the store, the Shohola, Pa. , resident bikes between 20-100 miles a day, five days a week on his Cervelo R5. Most of his rides are in the area, from the Catskills to Westbrookville, Glen Spey and Milanville. His longest ride was when he was 14, and he and his brother took Amtrak to Niagara Falls and then rode home on their bikes. When not on a bike, he loves to camp and snowmobile.

Shaun Hamilton
Manager

Stop in to the shop and you’ll see Shaun. After all, he’s a little hard to miss. He’s the guy doing most of the bike servicing, plus most of the buying and fitting, too.

Shaun’s been at Action Bikes since it opened in April 2008 and has been in the industry since 1993 – more than half his life. He managed and was part owner of Action Outfitters in Milford, Pa. Before that, he spent his childhood as a BMX junior racer at local mountain bike events.

He’s certified by Barnett Bicycle Institute, completing the full pro course for warrantied repair certification.  He’s also Serotta bike fit certified and has completed dozens of other fit courses.

Shaun’s also an avid biker, with about 14-15 bikes in the garage ranging from a Cervelo R3 to a Cannondale Flash 29er and a fixy for playing. He logs thousands of miles a year between road and mountain biking, pounding the trails in Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut and local tours including the Tour de Goshen.

When not on a bike, Shaun, who lives in Shohola, Pa., with his wife and 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter, is kayaking, fishing and snowboarding. And listening to music: everything from old school ’90s punk to Kenny Chesney.

He lists “Caddyshack” as his favorite movie and has never turned down a good IPA, especially Barley Creek’s Rescue.

Norbert Andryszak
Outdoor Enthusiast Specialist

Norbert’s been with Action Bikes since the shop opened. A native of Warsaw, Poland, he specializes in sales. Ask him anything about cycling, snowboarding, skiing or kayaking. When not doing any of those, he’ll be out playing soccer or running. Or watching “Stepbrothers” while kicking back with a few Heineken Lights at his place in Milford.

Justin Wood
Randonneuring Expert/Sales Associate

Justin’s our resident Renaissance Man.

He’s going to college in New Zealand (no, that isn’t a typo), but working at the store to save up money to go back. He’s also waiting tables in Goshen, NY, and producing music at a studio in Westtown, NY.

When not Down Under, Justin travels. In fact, the New Hampshire native kind of worked his way around the globe. After graduating from Port Jervis High School, he hit the road, figuring he could go to college in New Zealand for the same price as a state school here. He’s majoring in music production and international relations. When money ran low, he traveled through Southeast Asia. From there he crossed over to Vancouver, where he worked in a bike shop, and then headed south to Alaska. He eventually ended up in Westtown, NY, where he’s “living off the grid” listening to jam bands and reading Thoreau.  He bikes the 15 miles to work. He plans to return to New Zealand to finish that degree.
